Twenty years ago I learned to program my brain to work on positive things while I was sleeping. As inspired as that sounds, it came with the unexpected gift of giving permission to be softly awakened by angels. Not occasionally. But every single gosh darn day.

The “angels” are of my own making. They are my predominant waking thoughts, draped in what feels like the softest, gentlest nudge. Never frightening. Always benign. Always cloaked in light. They are always different. Only one appears each day (it’s as if my thoughts have learned to stand in line and wait patiently for their turn to wake me).

Akin to having the kindest, unseen, unheard presence sitting on the side of my bed, when my eyes open, regardless of any difficult or unpleasant circumstance with which I may be dealing, I am always happy.

Today’s waking thought:

There are three things to master.

  1. Be Happy. Learning something new [each day] insures your happiness.
  2. Do Healthy. Making smart choices keeps you healthy.
  3. Laugh Heartily. Laughter enriches, strengthens and brings joy.

My thoughts are not strangers to me. They are angels of which I am aware.
